Travel Policy Update
Travel
As you know, our collective well-being, as an interconnected and deeply interwoven community, depends on us taking appropriate steps to keep ourselves and each other safe and healthy throughout the remainder of this pandemic and beyond. If you plan to travel, please consider your risk of contracting and transmitting COVID-19. Be sure to consult the University of Pittsburgh's guidance on travel in advance. While there are no restrictions on commuting or personal travel in any operational posture, Falk School families and students are strongly encouraged to keep both activities to the absolute minimum. Additionally, all forms of transportation are permitted, but each come with their own risks. Falk School Families are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the risks of each type of travel and take precautions as they are able.
If you do choose to travel, pre-approval and review of your plans by the school nurse and/ or Falk School administrators is no longer required. If your travels and mitigation efforts do not comply with the CDC guidelines, please follow the CDC’s guidance for quarantine after travel (below) and report your child’s absence as such.
You can find all the CDC Travel Guidance here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/.
- It covers both domestic - https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/travel-during-covid19.html
- and and international travel - https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/international-travel-during-covid19.html.
Please be aware that the Pennsylvania Department of Health “Mitigation Relating to Travel” order was terminated on March 1, 2021. You should follow CDC guidance at this time.
Quarantine After Travel
Upon return from travel, Falk families should follow CDC guidelines for travel. If you have returned from travel, monitor yourself closely for symptoms of COVID-19. In addition to following CDC guidance, anyone who exhibits COVID-like symptoms upon return from any travel should contact their health care provider and the school nurse for guidance before returning to school.
