Quick Review - Falk School COVID Response & Mitigation

Daily Wellness Check will continue!

  • The daily wellness check through SchoolPass is still REQUIRED for ALL students, faculty, and staff regardless of vaccination status.
  • If you answer “yes” to any of the questions in the Wellness Check, STAY HOME
    • Please follow the next steps and contact the School Nurse or your Healthcare Provider.
    • The school nurse can clear your child for entry, if she deems it appropriate, after reviewing the circumstances for your “yes” answer.
    • If you child is ill, even with the mildest of symptoms, STAY HOME and please contact your healthcare provider or seek COVID testing.
      • We advise talking with your healthcare provider first because they may advise additional testing such as Influenza A or B and/or strep testing since all can be prevalent this time of year.
      • Home rapid antigen testing is not accepted simply because of the possibility of human error. However, you may seek rapid antigen testing from the doctor’s or an urgent healthcare provider.
      • PCR testing is the most accurate and is widely available. COVID-19 Testing & Health Services | Curative has several locations and a quick turnaround

If your child is sick with mild COVID-like symptoms, regardless of vaccination status STAY HOME and contact your healthcare provider.

Mitigation Efforts will Continue!

  • Frequent and scheduled hand washing will continue.
  • Social distancing will be maintained when possible with a minimum of 3 feet (6 feet is optimum).
  • Face coverings will be worn at all times (with the exception of eating or drinking in the classroom).
  • Weekly COVID pool testing will continue.

PA K12 COVID-19 Pool Testing PLUS “Test to Stay” program

  • In addition to the COVID-19 Pool Testing program, Falk School will be adopting a supplemental COVID Test to Stay program beginning January 11, 2022.
  • TTS is comprised of regular pool testing and contact tracing to allow close contacts to remain in the classroom, while maintaining our other mitigation efforts (social distancing, hand washing, wearing face masks at all times and frequent handwashing), to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
  • No news is good news! Pool testing results will only be published if there is a POSITIVE pool result. If you hear nothing, then all pool testing was NEGATIVE!
  • We are implementing test-to-stay in addition to routine pooled testing. Please note that this guidance outlines how schools can safely participate in test-to-stay. Test to Stay (pa.gov)

As a brief overview:

  1. After being identified as a close contact in the classroom or after a positive pool testing, TTS program participants can continue in-person learning/teaching if they remain asymptomatic and continue to test negative for COVID-19 according to the following schedule:
  • 1st test: Within 2 – 4 days post-exposure
  • 2nd test: Within 5 – 7 days post-exposure
  1. These follow up Rapid Antigen (RA) tests will be completed in the school setting and be self-administered with an anterior nasal swab test, much like the pool testing swab. The tests will be closely monitored and supervised by Concentric staffing nurses and/or the school nurse for correctness and accuracy.

  2. The Rapid Antigen tests are ONLY being offered as part of the Pool Test PLUS “Test to Stay” program. It will not be available for individual symptomatic testing.
  1. ONLY STUDENTS WITH SUBMITTED NEW ONLINE CONSENTS CAN BE TESTED

  2. Results are obtained within 10 minutes. Any positive results will result in the student/faculty/or staff member needing to isolate immediately at home for 10 days. If desired, a follow up PCR test may be obtained outside of the school setting for confirmation.

  3. New consents for all students for the Pool Testing and TTS program MUST be completed online using the follow guidance:
  • Please navigate to https://testcenter.concentricbyginkgo.com/minor-consent and complete the consent process if you wish to allow your child to participate in testing.
  • If you need to provide consent for more than one child, please complete the process once for each child.
  • The access code you will need on the second screen will be 4060PA
  • Attached are additional instructions to guide you through the consent process.

Please note: An unvaccinated child, who is identified as a close contact in the classroom and who does not have consent for testing, will need to be picked up from school and complete the designated quarantine time for unvaccinated individuals.

Proof of vaccination status MUST be on file in the student’s school health record in order for a student to not be designated as unvaccinated.

Submit consent for a Rapid Antigen Testing here.

The access code for Falk is 4060PA.

If we do not have consent, we may need to send your child home to have testing done by another provider. Both vaccinated and unvaccinated students should do this.
